Rishabh Pant is one of India’s most daring wicket-keeper batters, known for his daring stroke-play and game-changing attitude. He was forced to retire hurt after suffering a serious foot injury while attempting a reverse sweep during the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford. In the 2025 IPL mega-auction, he was purchased by the Lucknow Super Giants for a record ₹27 crore, making him the most expensive player in the tournament’s history. One of his standout moments in Test cricket came when he smashed a colossal six measuring approximately 107 metres against Tim Southee in Bengaluru.

Early Life

Rishabh Pant was born on 4 October 1997 in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, into a family with his father Rajendra Pant, mother Saroj Pant and an elder sister, Sakshi. When he was about 12 years old, he and his mother travelled from their hometown on weekends to Delhi so that he could train under coach Tarak Sinha at the Sonnet Cricket Academy. They stayed in a gurdwara in Moti Bagh because they did not have proper accommodation. He did his schooling at The Indian Public School in Dehradun and later graduated with a commerce degree from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University.

Domestic Career

Rishabh Pant began his domestic cricket journey with his first-class debut for Delhi in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy on 22 October 2015. In the same season, he made his List A debut in the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy. His breakthrough came during the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy when he scored an outstanding 308 runs in a single innings against Maharashtra, becoming the third-youngest Indian to achieve a triple century in first-class cricket.
On 8 November 2016, he again impressed by scoring a century in just 48 balls against Jharkhand in a Ranji match, one of the fastest in the tournament’s history. Later, on 14 January 2018, in a Zonal T20 League match between Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, he smashed 100 runs off only 32 balls, which was then the second-fastest century in a Twenty20 match globally. Before representing Delhi, Pant also played for Rajasthan’s under-14 and under-16 teams before shifting to Delhi to further develop his cricket career.

International Careeer

Rishabh Pant began his international career when he debuted in a Twenty20 International for India on 1 February 2017 against England in Bengaluru, becoming the youngest Indian to play in a T20I at age 19 years 120 days. He made his Test debut on 18 August 2018 against England at Nottingham. Shortly afterwards, he made his One Day International debut on 21 October 2018 against the West Indies in Guwahati. Since then, Pant has played across all three formats for India, delivering match-winning innings in Test cricket such as a significant century in a fourth innings chase and establishing himself as a key wicket-keeper batter in the longer format.

Rishabh Pant Net Worth

As of 2025, Rishabh Pant’s net worth is estimated to be around ₹100 crore. He has earned this wealth mainly through his central contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and match fees from international games. A major part of his income also comes from his Indian Premier League salary, as he plays for the Lucknow Super Giants.
