Eugene Kohn, one of the founding partners of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), passed away on March 5th, 2023, at the age of 70. Kohn was a prominent figure in the architecture industry, known for his leadership in the design of large-scale buildings across the world.

Kohn was born in Philadelphia in 1952, and he received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973. He later went on to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned his Master of Architecture degree in 1976.

After graduation, Kohn worked for several architecture firms in New York, including Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), before co-founding KPF in 1976 with William Pedersen and Sheldon Fox.

Kohn's architectural career spanned over four decades, and he played a crucial role in the design of some of the world's most iconic buildings.

He was responsible for the design of many notable projects, including the Shanghai World Financial Center, the International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority Headquarters.

Kohn was also involved in the design of the Hudson Yards development in New York City, which is one of the largest private real estate developments in the United States.
