The Barbie Dreamhouse is now officially open for action! A new video for Architectural Digest has Margot Robbie giving a tour of the iconic home that Barbie has in the upcoming live-action Barbie film, in which she plays the title character. The video was released in advance of the film's theatrical premiere.
On the set of the movie, the actress, who is 32 years old, demonstrated the extravagant Dreamhouse, which has a pool, a vibrant pink kitchen, and peekaboo views of Barbie's neighbors, while she was dressed in character as Barbie. She wore a light pink and blue checkered cropped jacket, a high-waisted miniskirt, and a hat.
It should come as no surprise that the pink refrigerator and circular breakfast table found in Barbie's kitchen are also colored pink. Robbie made the observation that "not super practical," but nothing is for Barbie.

Her fanciful and girly bedroom is decked up in pink and boasts an enormous headboard in the shape of a seashell, shimmering sequined bed coverings, and pink fluffy couches.
Barbie writer and director Greta Gerwig said in the clip, as she discussed the set design process:
“„
I can’t even tell you about the meetings we’ve had about pink! We sat with all these different kinds of pinks and we were like, ‘What is the pink? How do the pinks interact?’ When I was a girl, I wanted the brightest things.- Greta Gerwig
Robbie's "favorite design feature" is the pink slide that runs from Barbie's bedroom down to the waterless pool, as "there are no elements in Barbie's house." Another highlight is Barbie's Clueless-style wardrobe, which is constructed just like the plastic box the famed doll comes in and has new outfits every day.

Gerwig, who is 39 years old, claims that the interiors of Barbie's Dreamhouse were significantly influenced by the 1950s and early 1960s. This is because Barbie was first introduced to the world in 1959.
She stated that her crew was also influenced by staged musicals from the 1950s, which included aspects such as artificial sky — "those kinds of wonderfully fake but emotionally artificial spaces" — to create vivid sets for the film.
Gerwig explained:
“„
I want everyone to feel like they can reach into the screen and touch everything.- Gerwig
Sarah Greenwood, the production designer, mentioned that the fake backdrops were given a boost with the use of vibrant color and lighting.
“„
When you light them, you can light them into these intense colors — you can really go expressionistic with it.- Sarah Greenwood
Ryan Gosling, 42 and plays Ken in the upcoming Barbie film, recounted being blown away by the Dreamhouse set when he first saw it in the video.
“„
Walking into those environments and feeling the artistry, and the love and the playfulness, it just was so exciting.- Ryan Gosling
A number of pink monkey figurines hanging about, different hairstyles that Barbie models from scene to scene, and of course her famous pink convertible — shown in the teaser — that she "floats" down in from her bedroom were among the most surprise aspects revealed during the house tour.
Slated to make its debut in cinemas on July 21, Barbie also stars America Ferrera, Michael Cera, Ariana Greenblatt, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, Ana Cruz Kayne, Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, Jamie Demetriou, Connor Swindells, Sharon Rooney, Nicola Coughlan, Ritu Arya, and Dua Lipa.
